  •  One Weigh-In covers all competitors for the entire weekend in all divisions/participation at the lowest weight recorded.
  • Competitors are not locked into a pre-determined or pre-qualified weight class. Competitors can move up or down at the scales for entry based on wrestlers actual weight at the scales.

Wrestling Rules

1. Age Based determined on age on December 31,2022
2. Headgear is optional, but encouraged. 
3. College out of bounds protocol.
4. Wrestlers with braces must have full mouth guard
5. Strict skin checks will be enforced, and anyone with questionable skin conditions must have National Federation Form completed to compete.
6. Traditional Dual Team scoring and traditional NUWAY time periods.
7. Rookie Division=is 1 year of wrestling ONLY (Rookies may participate in the Novice and Open division if desired)
8. Novice Division=1 or 2 years of wrestling ONLY (Novice may participate in the Novice and Open division if desired)
9. NUWAY competitors, coaches, and spectators must adhere to local and state Covid 19 guidelines. 
10. Dual Team coaches are responsible for the conduct of participating wrestlers and or parents.
11. Anyone is subject to removal from event for bad conduct.
12. Each Dual Team is responsible for providing a table worker that will follow all of your matches.
13. Any wrestlers discovered ineligible will be removed immediately
14. No refunds will be given within 72 hours before event.
15. Random Age Audits – All Coaches or Parents must have a Proof of Wrestlers Age at any time if Drawn By Tourney Managers.

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

YOUTH DIVISION

Youth I (7 and 8 years old) and Rooster (6 years old and under) are points-only divisions.  Submissions are not allowed for kids 8 years old and younger.

INDIVIDUAL OPEN BRACKET FORMAT(S): 

  1. Brackets with 5 or less competitors will compete in a Round-Robin format to ensure maximum number of matches. 
  2. Brackets with 6 or more competitors will compete in a Double-Elimination bracket.

3 VS 3 TEAM  TOURNAMENT

Expert Team Division Champs win $1,000!

Each member of the 3-person team must register and select the same team name to be grouped together. 

3 v 3 Team Quintet-style Tournament is submission only.

No gi only, round robin-style bracketing. Every team will face every other team in their division once.

There are beginner, intermediate and expert divisions broken into male and female divisions. 

Max weight for a team’s 3 competitors:
Adult Male: 600 lbs
Adult Female: 500 lbs

All matches are 6 minutes in length unless there is a 25+ lb weight difference between competitors, in which case the match will be 4 minutes in length. 

3 VS 3 TEAM  BRACKET FORMAT: 

  1. The BJJ Fanatics 3 vs 3 Team Quintet-style bracketing is a Round-Robin format. 

BRACKET RELEASE: 

  1. Brackets will be posted the night before the tournament.
  2. Brackets will be posted on Smoothcomp, NOT this event registration page. We will provide the direct link to the bracketing on Smoothcomp once they are published. 
  3. If there is no one in your bracket, our Director will focus on merging brackets with the closest weight class or experience level to ensure you get a match. Our goal is to provide everyone with a safe, fun and competitive experience, and we will not place anyone in brackets that we don’t believe will provide that.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICIES:

  1. If you do not have any matches available, even in the case of a merged bracket, you will be refunded 100% of the Tournament Fee(s) directly back to your bank account.
  2. If you are unwilling to compete in a merged bracket, but have matches available, you will be refunded 100% of your entry fees in the form of a coupon code for another NUWAY Combat/BJJ Fanatics event.

Judo Rules

IJF International Federation Rules:

EVENTS WILL USE A MODIFIED IJF RULE SET

Below is a list of rules that are being modified from the IJF Rule Set. 

EVENTS

Event guarantees athletes at least 2 matches or their entry fee will be refunded. 

These events are designed to give the best possible experience for the athlete. Coaches and referees should work together to create a positive experience for athletes. 

The focus of these events is development and the emphasis is on positive judo (Throws, Pins, Armlocks, Chokes). 

  • Refs for kids (U13) matches should be at least a brown belt in judo. Refs for ages 13+ should be at least a  black belt in judo. 
  • 1 Ref per mat area. No Care system is used at the events.

BASIC DIVISION MATCH TIMES:

  • All Basic Divisions (Youth/Teens/Adult/Veterans) are 3 mins.
  • The clock only stops for blood/doctor or tying of judo gi. 
  • Athletes are encouraged to get up quick and continue. 

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION MATCH TIMES:

  • Youth Intermediate are 3 mins
  • The clock only stops for blood/doctor or tying of judo gi. 
  • Athletes are encouraged to get up quick and continue. 

13+ INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED DIVISION MATCH TIMES:

  • 13+ Int & Adv is 4 mins
  • Clock stops when the Referee says Matte. 

IJF CADET, IJF JUNIOR & IJF SENIOR DIVISION MATCH TIMES:

  • IJF Cadet, IJF Junior & IJF Senior. 4 mins 
  • Follow standard IJF Rules

VETERANS INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED DIVISION MATCH TIMES:

  • Veterans Intermediate & Advanced is 4 mins.
  • Clocks stops when the Referee says Matte. 
  • Athletes are encouraged to get up quick and continue.

GOLDEN SCORE:

  • All Basic & Intermediate Youth Divisions – 2 minutes
  • If nobody scores at the end of the Golden Score, referee decides the winner
  • 13+ (Intermediate & Advanced), IJF & Veterans Unlimited

COACHING

Coaching is encouraged at all times during the matches. 

What does it mean to coach your athlete: 

  • All comments from the coach should be geared towards helping your athlete perform a judo technique.
  • As long as coaches are being a positive influence over the athlete they will be encouraged to continue coaching. 

PENALTIES

Basic Divisions 

Shidos will not be handed out for Minor infractions

  • Referees will warn judoka about infractions and instruct them not to do so in the future. 
  • If a judoka gets 3 warnings for the same infraction they will lose the match. 
  • If a judoka gets 3 warnings for different infractions the match will continue. 

Intermediate Divisions

  • Referees will use their discretion to give penalties for stalling
  • Stalling can include – Running out of bounds, defensive posture, or any action deemed to prevent their opponent from positive judo.
  • If a judoka gets 3 warnings for the same infraction they will lose the match. 
  • If a judoka gets 3 warnings for different infractions the match will continue.

Advanced and IJF Division

  • These will follow IJF Rules

JUDO UNIFORMS

All competitors must wear a properly fitting gi.

Divisions under 13 years old Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Divisions

  • Any color (white, blue, black)
  • Any patches/embroidery can be worn as long as it does not hinder opponents ability to grab judo gi or go against the spirit of judo.

Divisions 13+ Basic, Intermediate, Advanced

Youth MMA Rules

RULES:

USFL Pankration is a safe and technically focused form of Mixed Martial Arts suitable for youth athletes. The unique rules and scoring system promote technical excellence over punishment or brutality. In addition to restricting head strikes, techniques that are likely to cause injury are removed with consideration to specific age groups. 

All youth fighters have the opportunity to represent our country in the IMMAF Youth MMA World Championships through a transparent annual selection tournament.

Tournament Format 

Single Round of 3 minutes for each bout. Minimum of 15 minutes rest between bouts.

4 or more per bracket: Double elimination with consolation bracket to determine 3rd

3 in bracket: Round Robin. Criteria for 3-way tie. 1. Most submissions. 2. Total Points 

2 in bracket: Best of 3 bouts.

Bout Sanctioning 

Bouts where both athletes are USFL licensed are recorded as sanctioned bouts in the U.S. Youth MMA Database. License for youth fighters can be done online: https://fightleague.org/licensing-information/
